Endodontics is a specialty in dentistry that encompassing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp (i.e., nerves and blood vessels) in the root canal system, as well as the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. When the dental pulp of a tooth is damaged or injured due to different reasons, endodontic therapy is often indicated to relieve toothaches, retain the tooth and restore function by treating the diseased pulp tissue, so the tooth can continue to serve the patient.
